A look at “The Future of Public Housing”…from HUD

At this month’s conference of the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (PHADA), a panel from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) shared HUD’s clearest statement yet on the pathways they see housing authorities using to preserve the homes we provide–and the urgency of taking action.

The headline is on slide two: without action by PHAs to utilize RAD, Section 18, and other options to move the funding platform and open up innovative ways to invest in our housing, public housing nationwide faces “permanent loss” of a “substantial number of units” in the foreseeable future.

MPHA is glad to share these slides with the public, in hopes of putting MPHA’s vision and plans in better context.
