Stable Homes Stable Schools families are encouraged to use this affordability calculator to understand which units would be considered affordable for them, per SHSS guidelines.

Important: This calculator can only provide an estimate of a participant’s rent portion and does not guarantee a unit will ultimately be approved for the participant by MPHA.  

You must know the following information to complete the estimated affordability calculation: 

• Unit size your family has been approved for;*  
• Annual household income;* 

• Bus zone of the unit you have located;
  • If unsure, use School Boundary & Walk Zone Map – Minneapolis Public School District.

• Tenant-paid utilities (check the listing or ask the property owner whether the heat, stove, and water heater use gas or electricity).

• Proposed rent of the unit.
