MPHA offers a wide variety of benefits to eligible full-time employees, and some of its part-time employees, to help its staff stay in good health, advance in their careers, and plan for the future.

  • Medical plans are insured by HealthPartners and offer a wide range of covered services, including physician and hospital services and prescription drugs. MPHA offers seven medical plan options allowing employees to choose the best plan for their needs.
  • Employees and their dependents receive comprehensive dental coverage through HealthPartners for all dental services and covers preventative care at 100% in-network, with no deductible. MPHA pays the full cost.
  • HRA/VEBA is designed to help cover out-of-pocket costs for health care expenses not covered by insurance. MPHA contributes to employees’ HRA/VEBA accounts.

MPHA’s retirement plan through Principal is a 401(a) defined contribution plan. After a six-month introductory period, employees are enrolled, contributing 5% of their salary while MPHA contributes 7.5% of the employee’s salary.

  • Full-time employees start accruing 12 days of paid vacation per year, with accruals increasing with years of service. Additionally, MPHA provides credit towards vacation accruals for prior full-time public sector and military service.
  • Employees earn up to 12 days per year of sick and safe leave, depending on their bargaining unit.
  • Regular employees receive 12 paid holidays per year, including one floating holiday.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a prepaid wellbeing benefit available for you and your eligible dependents. All services are confidential, HIPAA compliant, and easily accessible. Services include short-term, solution-focused counseling, coaching services for wellbeing, online resources, articles, assessments, self-help videos.
  • Employees automatically receive basic group term life insurance equal to one and a half times their annual salary, with a maximum of $275,000. MPHA pays the full cost of this benefit.
  • This plan helps to replace income for employees who are unable to work as a result of illness or injury.
  • The Minnesota Deferred Compensation Plan (MNDCP) is a voluntary savings plan intended for long-term investing for retirement. Authorized under Section 457 of the Internal Revenue Code, the MNDCP is a smart and easy way to supplement retirement income.
  • Vision Insurance through EyeMed covers frames, lenses, and contacts. Employees can purchase coverage for themselves, spouse, and dependent children.
  • Flexible Spending Health and Dependent Care Accounts allows eligible employees to save money, pre-tax, to pay for eligible health care and/or dependent care expenses.
  • Critical Illness Insurance can help protect your finances from the expense of a serious health condition. Employees can purchase coverage for themselves and their spouse.
  • Accident Insurance helps pay for injury treatment from accidents. Employees can purchase coverage for themselves, spouse, and dependent children.
  • The Metropass program allows employees to enroll in a pass for unlimited bus or light rail rides at a discounted price.
