MPHA’s Rental Units

MPHA operates nearly 6,000 housing units across 42 high-rises across the city, 184 family homes at Glendale in Southeast, more than 700 scattered site family homes, a 16-unit townhome development, and a new 84 units in multiplexes across the city in its public housing and deeply affordable housing portfolio. These units serve individuals and families who are low-income (at or below 80% of Area Median Income).

Apply for Housing

Applying for housing is dependent on a few factors (age, disability status and household size). Due to high demand and limited supply of units and funding, applicants may not be able to get housing right away. For this reason, MPHA manages a waitlist so as unit become available, households can be notified in the order of when they applied.

To be eligible for housing, you must comply with the below. For details on eligibility, please see our current Statement of Policies.

  • Household income cannot exceed 80% of the Area Median Income
  • Each household member must have a social security card, be an eligible citizen or have eligible non-citizen status, or be a mixed-status family
  • Each household must pass a criminal history screening (simply having a criminal history does not disqualify you)
